039. Classic

"Charlie… Do you remember what we were talking about? Two nights ago?"

Amita's eyes flit meaningfully to the open doorway Seth recently exited out of as Charlie blinks, chasing wavelet analysis equations from behind his eyes to try to rewind his mind. Two nights ago. Her place. He spent the night. He gets distracted by the non-verbal recollection of that evening before recalling the conversation that preceded some particularly inspired sex.

"Oh. Um. That. Yeah."

Amita smirks, ever patient. She cocks her head in the direction of Seth's imminent return. "What do you think of him?"

"He's…" Charlie flashes back to the first time Seth stood close to him, the musky scent of him heady, the heat of his body almost palpable as Seth's fingers brushed against his while pointing out a detail on some cover art. "I'd be in favor. You?"

"He's got that classic mix of sexy and geeky I seem to fall for every time," Amita teases with a playful tone. "So a yes vote from me as well." Her hand roams over his knee, drawing suggestive spirals on his lower thigh. "I was thinking..." For a second he realizes he's put the pressure on her to initiate this shift in their relationship, but it's too late to change that so he smiles reassuringly to make it as easy as he can. "You could invite him to have dinner with us."

Charlie's hand slides down to interlace their fingers. "If you're sure. I mean, it's pretty quick. If you want to wait…"

"I didn't expect an opportunity this quickly to be honest," Amita admits, "but I think it's worth pursuing. So if you want to…"

"I want to," Charlie answers, more assertively than even he expected. "So I'll ask then."

Amita's eyes are bright with anticipation.

"Good."

123. Professor

Seth bounds through the door, a bundle of energy even this late, and packs up his satchel as he talks.

"So I'll have more samples for you tomorrow, probably in the afternoon."

"Great," Charlie says agreeably as Seth shoulders his bag. "Let me walk you out." At Seth's confused reaction, Charlie explains. "It's after hours; some of the doors are locked and some are alarmed."

"Ah!" Seth exclaims. "Don't want to be mistaken for a burglar or worse, a cheating undergrad." He turns to Amita and bows with an outlandish flourish. "Good night, Hot Professor Ramanujan."

"Good night, Mr. Smooth," Amita retorts gaily, flashing him a flirty grin.

As Charlie walks Seth out he wonders if asking a man for what amounts to a date requires different linguistics than asking a woman.

"Anyway," he starts because he wants to make it sound like a continuance from a previous conversation for fluency's sake, "After the case is closed, you know, I thought - Amita and I thought - it would be nice to have you come over for dinner… At her place."

"Dinner?" Seth looks at him over his glasses, a tiny quirk curling a corner of his lip beneath his moustache.

Charlie nods, feeling like Seth is sizing him up to be dinner. "Dinner…" He forces himself to finish the sentence, risking the rejection. "And whatever might happen afterwards."

Seth backs him up against the door, his lips brushing Charlie's ear as he whispers his answer, the space between their bodies so miniscule it's practically theoretical.

"Tell the other hot professor to pick a date," he rumbles invitingly. "I'll be there."

Eyes dancing behind his trademark spectacles, he lets himself out the door - a blast of cold air rushing in to steal the heat he built up in Charlie.

190. Shiver

The interview room is always cold, but seeing Seth in there is what makes Charlie shiver.

"Hey, Charlie." Seth's graceful hands skim across the table's surface as if missing something to draw with. "I guess your brother told you."

"That this whole thing was your idea?" Charlie says, sitting down. "Yeah, he did."

"I never thought anyone would actually do it!" Seth exclaims. "It was just stupid drunken posturing! I wanted the original Ultraman to go back to Ross, but I never imagined anyone could get killed."

"You get why you should have told us before," Charlie admonishes, leaning across the table. "You withheld information about the crime."

Seth's expressive hands still. "Can you honestly tell me your brother wouldn't have made me prime suspect if I had told him? Because it sounds as good as a confession."

"But you didn't do it," Charlie stresses. "Yes, Vaughn got the idea from you, but that doesn't make you responsible for the theft or the death or the forgeries."

Seth's eyes fall. "Then why do I feel like crap about the people who got shot?"

"Because you're a good man." Charlie reaches across the table and covers Seth's wringing hands with one of his own. "Because feeling bad about people getting hurt is a sign you're human."

"Am I in trouble?" Seth asks, his voice barely a whisper.

"If it's up to Don? I don't think he'll charge you. Obstruction of justice would be a tough sell with all the help you've given us on this case." He gives Seth's hand a pat. "Plan on that dinner."

Seth's face breaks into a hopeful smile. "You know, I was really hoping to draw you two."

Aware of the cameras recording, Charlie walks around the table to whisper teasingly in Seth's ear.

"Just draw?"

118. Playful

They order a multi-course feast from the best Moroccan restaurant around and cover Amita's living room floor with pillows so they can eat around her coffee table. Seth brings wine and authentic Moroccan mint tea which he makes for them in Amita's Indian tea set.

The meal, designed to be eaten without utensils, is playful and easygoing. They laugh at the mess they make as they feed themselves and each other.

"So…" Seth glances across the table between the third and fourth course. "The 'and whatever happens afterwards' part of dinner?" Charlie halts, an olive halfway to his mouth, worried until he sees the flirtatious way Seth's looking at them both. "Any reason we have to wait until dinner's over?"

Amita leans back, her glossy hair cascading loose over her bare shoulders as she eyes Seth from beneath thick dark lashes.

"Well, if you can't wait…"

"What can I say?" Seth splays out his hands. "So much beautiful art in front of me? How can you expect an artist to be patient?" He reaches out and runs the back of his fingers down the side of her face, arcing over her cheekbone and skimming over her dimple before gliding down her neck as she arches it under his touch.

He moves in and kisses her, not much more than a brushing of lips, but filled with promise.

"Patience is overrated," Amita breathes.

Charlie watches, but the sensation that wells up in him isn't jealousy, it's desire; he wants them both.

Seth crawls towards him, his sly smile framed by his wispy goatee.

"And how about you?"

"Me?" Charlie says, reaching up to tug Seth down to him, their breath mingling - spices hanging in the air between their lips as they hover a hair's breadth away. "I'm definitely still hungry."

Confession
This fic was written for the Holiday Drabble Remixathon at numb3rs100. The original author was rubynye whose fic I remixed was Magic Number.

I've been promising her an AU of Graphic where Seth is innocent for ages now and this seemed a nice way for that universe to be birthed by two mothers rather than one (as befits a threesome universe!) I loved Magic Number when I first read it, but was so sad that it had to end the way it did because of canon. So this is a new version of Magic Number where Seth is only guilty of coming up with a bad idea that someone else stole and executed. I've made someone else the forging artist so the only thing he did that was bad was not admit to Don up front that he mouthed off in front of a group of friends out drinking one night that someone should steal Ultraman and give it back to Ross.

I hope you like the remix, Ny! I'm glad to finally have the Innocent Seth universe up and running for you finally. /hugs/ And even though this wasn't originally a drabble, I still give you my thanks for all your lovely fic at N100 over the years!

Very special thanks to beta melissima for her assistance with this fic.

Thanks,

Emma DeMarais

Re: Confession
Oh, Emma, I LOVE this! I just hope this reply goes through, because I'm having connectivity issues today.

When I wrote "Magic Number" I seriously toyed with making Seth innocent, so this is like having written that, only better! I adore the last two, especially, after the point of divergence; I love Reassuring Charlie, and oh, that dinner scene was just tasty.

Eeee, thank you! *hugs you delightedly*

Re: Confession
/hugs you back tightly/

I wanted you to be delighted with your remix so I'm thrilled that you like this!

I had Mel ask permission special because out of all of your Seth fic this was the one that called to me and I couldn't put aside that it wasn't a drabble. Ergo making it a drabble series so I could make it fit.

I really hope to write more Seth fic now that I have this verse up and running and I hope you will too. I ADORE your C/A/S threesome fic and want more like a greedy thing with big grabby hands. /beams/

I hope you're feeling better today and if not, then I feel like I at least put a smile on your face (probably as lovely as the one Amita is wearing in your icon).

/sends smishes and hot tea to warm you inside/

I really like this. I love any flavor of threesom from you and Seth was a great character with an unfortunate cannon. So thank you for the lovely AU.

YW! I really liked Seth and hated that he had to be the bad guy. Now that I have this AU up and running I think I shall enjoy returning to it (hopefully with more porny installments) in the future! :-)
