Numb3rs Fic: A Little Rest
Written for numb3rs100 Challenge #290 – Sleep

Title: A Little Rest
Pairing/Characters: Margaret
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: UP
Summary: Margaret thinks what she needs is a bit of sleep
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

When she was a girl Margaret played in the snow, twirling like a dervish, trying to catch snowflakes on her tongue.

She would spin until the world around her became a blur, tree branches turned to lines striping her sight until she fell into a soft snowbank, breathless.

That girlish joy, that spark... It's gone now, dulled by rounds of chemo. She feels heavy, pulled down to the earth as if it wishes to swallow her prematurely.

She feels the spinning, the cold, the world gone blurry stealing her breath.

A little rest, she thinks...

And her eyes fall closed.

Confession
I confess I was thinking about my past fic, Snowflake Ephemeral, when I wrote this and am disappointed that I couldn't even come near the beauty and art of that drabble. I was particularly proud of that one. This? Doesn't even come close.

Thanks,

Emma DeMarais

Oh, this is lovely. I've never been through chemo, but I've watched other people go through it and I think you did such a delicate job describing the weight of what she went through.
