Numb3rs/Supernatural Fic: Folie a Deux
Written for numb3rs100 Challenge #298 – Moon
Crossposted to sn_crossovers and n3crossovers

Title: Folie a Deux
Pairing/Characters: Billy, Jo
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 300
Spoilers: Man Hunt (Numb3rs), Everybody Loves a Clown (Supernatural)
Summary: An incident on a desolate road from two different points of view
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

It wasn't taking the bait. She'd gone through all this trouble to track it and set up a trap, but the werewolf seemed more interested in cornering her than going for the nice bloody meat she'd laid out for it.

Snarling and bristling, it approached, but she didn't let it back her up against anything. Always have an escape route; her father had taught her well.

A flash of headlights on the road washed over them and the werewolf took off, spooked.

Seconds later she heard a satisfying crack and thud as it fell into her pit trap. It should be safe down there until morning rendered it human again.

He hadn't expected anyone on the desolate road so the car, pulled over, had been a surprise. The huge beast facing down the little blonde girl had been a bigger one.

By the light of his headlights he could tell it was ready to pounce, but as he pulled over he watched it bound away into the darkness, scared off by his arrival.

"You all right, Miss?" he called out, exiting the vehicle.

"Yeah, I'm okay." Her expression was clearly not of a girl terrified for her life. "It ran off into the woods before it could do anything."

"You'd best get in your car and get going," he told her warily. "The full moon makes everyone crazy - man and beast."

She huffed, seeming amused.

"I hear that."

+

Jo climbed into her car, figuring she could swing back around at dawn to check on her prey. Best now to let this wannabe hero think she was going safely home.

+

Billy got back into his SUV, shaking his head. What was that girl thinking? Civilians going after a werewolf alone? Full moons really did bring out the lunatic in people.

Confession
I confess my first idea for this prompt (a blue moon drabble with young Alan and Margaret dancing together) bored me so much I waited hours for another idea to come along that interested me enough to write it. I'm sure the Alan/Margaret one would have been lovely and possibly romantic enough to win people's hearts, but I couldn't seem to get interested in writing it. This? While I'm not thrilled with it, I was at least amused with the whole Jo rolling her eyes at a non-hunter even as Billy's mentally dissing her as a 'civilian'. They both know what she was up against, but both of them assume the other's clueless.

If the term folie a deux ("a madness shared by two") seems familiar it might be because it was the title of an X Files episode. ;-)

For anyone new to my LJ? Yes, I am embarrassingly lame about including proper accents in any of my foreign words. Ah, a lazy polyglot. I am so ashamed. /sarcasm/

Thanks,

Emma DeMarais

Gah, woman! Don't tempt me! I'll find myself going back to the Duluthverse to make Billy a hunter once again.

Then again, when I made Charlie and Don hunters that was fun too. :-)

Any particular Hunter!Billy verse? Or will any do?

Nope, just Hunter!Billy. Hunter!Billy screwing Charlie's brains out would be nice but I'm sort of in a mood right now so really, whatever floats your boat.
