White Collar Fic: A Shout in the Dark
Written for whitecollar100 Challenge #092 - Shout

Title: A Shout in the Dark
Series/Universe: A Single Shot
Pairing/Characters: Peter, Neal
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Pilot
Summary: Neal realizes he's been shot just before he fades away
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

Popping noises, people shouting, Peter dragging him to the pavement. Confusion becomes clarity in one brief painful second. It's not someone else Peter is looking at, frantic with shock. It's him. Neal tries to raise a hand to touch his chest where pain and warmth and something far more mortal dwell, but his body won't obey. His eyes flutter closed and all that remains is Peter's voice, calling to him in the darkness. In the black Mozzie's dancing girl figurine Lolana appears, beckoning him to paradise. He apologizes to her in his head. He can't leave. This is his home.

okay Yes I LOVE the surreality of Lolana showing up in the black, and his apology. \o/

That's right Neal, don't go into the light. Tell Lolana to screw off. You're home and you're not going anywhere.

Oh I love the image of Lolana shaking her hips, inviting him to the ever after.

I love this! That Lolana, for all the good she represents to Neal and Moz, her presence always marks the worst temptations and most disastrous choices. Thank goodness Neal had the good sense to reject her this time.
