Written for whitecollar100 Challenge #094 - Cry

Title: Lingering Over Life's Losses
Pairing/Characters: Neal, Mozzie
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Judgment Day
Summary: Mozzie reminds Neal of something else he's losing as he leaves
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

"What about - what's her name? Helen? Ellen?"

In all the rush and grief of escaping New York before Agent Kramer arrested him for everything from jaywalking to late library book fines it hadn't really hit Neal that he'd lost her too - for good.

Being part of witness protection meant that she could be moved anywhere, her name changed, no ties to her old existence.

He'd only known where she was because she reached out to him, while he was still findable. Now? He was going where not even Peter would find him.

Fresh tears formed in Neal's eyes.

"She's gone."

Poor Neal, he really is cut off from everyone who represents his past.

Thanks a lot Mozzie. Anything else you want to remind Neal that he left behind?
