Numb3rs Fic: Vague Murmurs of a Clear Talent
Written for numb3rs100 Challenge #412 - Brilliant

Title: Vague Murmurs of a Clear Talent
Pairing/Characters: Undisclosed
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: None
Summary: Princeton professors gossip about the incoming young genius student
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

"Really a brilliant young mathematician..."

"Has there ever been a younger Freshman?"

"I hear he's got an interest in physics..."

"Mark my words, this boy's going to achieve greatness."

A hush fell over the assembled faculty when the door opened and Professor Hjilty ushered in a stunned looking young teen boy flanked by both his parents. He was wide-eyed and silent, taking it all in, clutching his leather satchel to his chest as if it were his sole shield in a hostile environment, not a university.

"Esteemed colleagues," Professor Hjilty began. "I present to you Princeton's latest prodigy: Laurence Fleinhardt!"

Aw, poor Larry! To have all that expectation turned on him. *wants to hug him and squish him* I thought it was Charlie, from the title, but as I read it (and knowing a bit about how you work ;)), I began to suspect it'd be Larry (or even Charlie's kid) and I was right. *snugs college!Larry*

*grin* To tell the truth, I was leaning more towards the student being Charlie's kid, so the ending was still a bit of a surprise. :D

So was I, so I reeled it back and made it Larry so it would be less predictable. /grins/

The image of him clutching his satchel is so resonate. I love this. LG said it best, this is why Larry understands Charlie best.
