It had been a busy day: breakfast fundraiser, pride parade, craft fair with street food booths and finally a rally. Between speeches Alan lost track of Margaret briefly. Once he spotted her he could hear her buoyant laughter and that of the handsome man she was conversing with. Despite the security he felt in his marriage, Alan couldn't help a little flare of jealousy at the sight of his wife being the object of such close attention from another man.

"Ahem," Alan cleared his throat as he came up behind Margaret, eyeing the man who was chatting her up. "Excuse me, but that would be my wife you're flirting with."

Margaret and the man just laughed anew.

"Alan, this is just Paul from the law office. I told you they hired a new associate." She slipped her arm around her husband and kissed his cheek with affection. "Besides, he wasn't flirting with me. He's gay."

"Guilty as charged," Paul responded, offering his hand for Alan to shake, which he did with an apologetic expression. "Your wife is safe with me."

"Good to know," Alan said. "I mean, it can be kind of a problem when a friend or coworker starts lusting over your spouse, you know? I'm glad we don't have to worry about that."

"Oh, I said you didn't have to worry about me lusting after your wife, Alan." With a devilish grin Paul gave Alan a once-over with his eyes, clearly showing appreciation. "But Margaret's going to have to deal with me lusting after her handsome husband!"

He clucked his tongue and raised his eyebrows before turning on his heel and departing.

Alan gaped, speechless.

"Oh, just take it as a compliment, hon," Margaret told Alan with a playful nudge. "At least we know he's got good taste!"

Confession
I confess that even though I don't really eat Skittles their "Taste the Rainbow" campaign may have unduly influenced this fic and its title. ;-)

Thanks,

Yummy!
Hehehehe :D I can't help myself, I love this fic. \o/ The very idea of Alan left flatfooted while Margaret stands by, amused? Delicious.
