Numb3rs Fic: From Dusk Til Don
Written for numb3rs100 Challenge #446 - Dusk

Title: From Dusk Til Don
Pairing/Characters: Don/Robin
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Series
Summary: Robin waits a tense night for Don to return home to her
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

Robin waits as the sun falls boiling orange into the cool blue sea, the view from their new home made possible by her wealthy parents as a wedding present.

Don's home earlier now that he's been promoted. They have dinner together so often they've made a schedule of who cooks which nights.

The kitchen will remain dark this evening.

Glued to the news once she hears the alert on the radio, she watches as aghast as everyone in LA at the chaos that was once LAX airport.

Don is there; she knows this without being told. They have an understanding. An increase in the terror alert means no call home.

So she waits, like any LEO widow, praying her man is safe and that the danger will be well and fully squelched by the team of heroes she knows them all to be.

They cut into Leno and Letterman with the final word: suicide by cop. It's over, well, for the news teams who just get to regurgitate the same news on different channels until everyone's heard the all clear.

Don doesn't return until the wee hours.

She holds him until dawn rises then they sleep, as one, at peace.

Yes plz...
Lovely idea, beautifully done. I especially love this: "She holds him until dawn rises then they sleep, as one..." Her tension up to that point dissipates into a beautiful, dawn-tinted tableau. /happy sigh./

They were so bantery when dating, and I loved that, but I like to think they come to a peaceful dynamic like this later on, especially times like this when it counts.
