Holiday Gifts for My F-List
Happy Holidays to all!

Yes, another year has passed since I last apologized for being around LJ less due to college and bemoaned how little fic I'd published. This year keeps up that sad trend.

While I did finally get my bachelors degree this year, I decided to postpone the 5-6 years of PhD pursuit to add 2-3 years in which I've been accepted to two wonderful colleges for two concurrent Masters degrees (one summers only, the other during the academic year). I've started both programs and come to the conclusion that grad school is hard! LOL! My hat's off to all of you on my F-list who are in the process of or have earned advanced degrees. /bows with a flourish/ I'm honored to know you.

I've given up doing my stats and fic reviews which saddens me greatly. At one point I had the most amazing fic tracking documents and I relished counting up all my published and in progress fic at the end of the year. Now? I can't even face the task knowing I haven't recorded a single fic in them in over a year. /sigh/

So I am still a lousy LJ friend with little hope of improvement, but I post this today to remind you all I still think of you and wish we were still a part of each other's lives even if just in fandom. I can share that I did get to meet an F-lister this year in person for the first time and have visited with my lovely co-mod T from N100, who was kind enough to open her home to Mel and I.

Despite the almost complete absence of replies to comments, I do still appreciate the support of my LJ friends and readers and do think of you often. Every time someone comments on one of my infrequent fic or responds to one of my now rare Confession posts I feel grateful that there are such good-hearted people out there and I feel lucky that you still care enough to reach out to me from time to time.

While I am super far behind on past years, I am still going ahead with my traditional holiday thank you to my F-list, offering to write short fic as gifts. Often it takes me the whole next year to get some of them done, some longer. But I do care and I do want to do this for my friends. I figure it's always a nice surprise when the fic show up in your inboxes, so why not keep working on them?

I know that I pretty much had to give up on doing any birthday fic so please do at least put a prompt here for me to fill for you. You – my LJ friends – are important to me and this is now one of my few ways to show it.

Leave a comment on this post between Christmas and January 31st and I'll respond with a custom ficlet just for you. Here's my recently expanded published fandom list for you to choose from. You may pick a single fandom or two to crossover (crossovers a bonus!) or fuse. Gen, Het, Slash, Cest are all available as are crossover pairings.

Fic Fandoms:

Numb3rs, Supernatural, Heroes, Criminal Minds, The Unit, Psych, Bones, Miracles, Brimstone, Cupid, Blood Ties, Primeval, Doctor Who, Torchwood, Firefly, Burn Notice, Dollhouse, Leverage, The Mentalist, Castle, White Collar, Lie to Me, Covert Affairs, Hawaii Five-0, Sherlock, X-Men, Revenge, Sandman, Fairy Tales, Angel, Buffy, His Dark Materials/The Golden Compass.

I'll also give a try if you want Scorpion (My new fave!), Forever (My other new fave!), The Librarians (Brand new and fun!), Sleepy Hollow, Elementary, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD, Person of Interest, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, Warehouse 13, Perception, John Doe, Max Headroom, X Files, Charmed, ST:TNG, Star Trek: Reboot, Almost Human and the Avengers Movieverse.

(Please note that I haven't seen every episode of many fandoms listed on this post, even my official ones, so my ability to fic them is limited. Also please try not to spoil me too much in your requests. Thx!)

Lurkers! Consider this your annual amnesty!

For those of you who read for the fic without ever commenting, if you were ever going to delurk, now's the perfect time to do it. Say hi, leave me a ♥ - whatever you feel comfortable with. If you have my LJ friended leave me a fandom and I'll write you a little ficcy present. What do you have to lose? I promise I don't won't bite. ;-)

I send greetings out to all of you and wish you a fabulous holiday season and a wonderful, healthy and happy new year in 2015.

Thank you for being my LJ friends.

Since I have bickering children sitting on me, Don /Charlie with childhood reminiscence?

Don and Charlie sat curled up on the couch, warm and cozy despite the snow falling outside the window. Getting away for their first Hanukkah after losing Alan had been Don's idea. Going to a remote, yet well appointed cabin in the Swiss Alps had been Charlie's contribution.

He'd also brought the DVDs they had made for their father years before - digital transfers of old family footage from VCR tapes. Watching their parents on the television was at least some comfort while they were missing them both.

"That was us," Don pointed out as they chuckled at two curly heads digging into presents, ripping paper away with glee. "We were always so impatient as kids. I know I couldn't wait to unwrap my gifts." He had his arm around Charlie and squeezed him affectionately. "I even got caught trying to unwrap a few of yours when you were really little."

"So greedy even as a little kid, eh?" Charlie teased. "Explains why you always had to eat the last piece of honey cake every time Mom made it."

"Oh, like you didn't take more than your fair share of her kugel?"

A playful poke in the ribs quickly escalated to a wrestling match for a few minutes before Don gestured for a truce and Charlie curled up against his side once more.

Don pressed a kiss into his brother's still unruly curls.

"I'm glad I have you."

"Ditto," Charlie told him. "Happy Hanukkah."

/HUGS!/ and happy holidays! And yeah, grad school is hard. My second year of grad school was the second most exhausting of my life.

Good luck. I'm sure you'll rock it.

I'll ask for Numb3rs or Almost Human if you give me a request in return. :-)

Five times Flynn and Eve met up

1. Egypt
Because Flynn just couldn't waste all that education, he kept going back there and getting into trouble - this time in an attempt to retrieve some precious yet dangerous magical gemstone. He was up to his neck in sand when she arrived to rescue him. She made him take her to a four star hotel afterwards. He thanked her for three days before disappearing again into the sands.

2. Turkey
Truth be told he ended up leading her through the twisty turny chase through the massive marketplace since she had no idea which way to go, but it was her gun that kept the armed men after them from catching up and catching them. After that adventure, Eve was heard to say that Afghanistan was "restful".

3. Kazakhstan
Which was rather amazing because the messenger Flynn sent misspoke and told her he was in Kurdistan. She still found him and gave him a stern talking to about always carrying a cell phone. He dutifully listened and then showed her a map of the extremely limited cell service in that part of the country. She bought him a GPS watch for this birthday the next month. She didn't tell him she put a tracker in it. He still managed to break it less than six months later.

4. Texas
She'd been on edge, checking her phone because she was sure she'd be called into work for some sort of emergency. So when the doorbell rang at Jacob's house - where they'd all gathered - she braced herself only to hear Cassandra's delighted squeal at Flynn's unexpected Thanksgiving visit.

5. Bali
The island was gorgeous, their hut on the beach wonderfully distant from prying eyes and yet still as comfortable as a hotel room. Food arrived, brought by discreet workers, and it was beautiful and delicious. It was like a dream, a paradise, so much so that it took the first three days for Eve to believe it was real. Thanks to the look of adoration on Flynn's face, Eve didn't have any trouble believing the ring he put on her finger had a real diamond. She did wait a whole day before making sure it wasn't stolen or cursed though. As much as she loved Flynn, she could never forget two things: how they met the first time and, of all things, Egypt.

*hugs.

*waves.

Congrats on all the things!!! :)

If you're up for it, Numb3rs or Supernatural would be great. Or both (as a cross-over).

"Seriously, Stanford?"

Sam took a swig of his beer and let the bottle come down to the bar counter with a loud clunk.

"Yeah. Stanford."

His newfound drinking companion just stared at him. The guy seemed pretty weird, but then the name Winchester had become synonymous with weird shit years ago so by comparison this short academic with curly hair seemed pretty tame.

"I mean, Princeton wasn't anything to sneeze at," the man seemed obsessed with Sam's aborted academic history. "But to get into Stanford and then just, you know, leave?"

"Family stuff," Sam said, shrugging. "So you were saying you could explain syzygy to me - the alignment of the planets and all that?"

"Yeah, yeah, sure... Astrophysics... Not a problem." The man cocked his head at Sam, clearly now a bit more than tipsy. "You. Left. Stanford." He sounded out the words slowly as if they were foreign to him.

Sam let out a little growl of frustration.

"Yes! I left Stanford! I never made it to law school! My family needed me!"

"Oh!" The man looked both startled and a bit chagrined. "Law school, you say? Then it's probably for the best. Anyway, planetary alignment! Such an interesting topic, if I do say so as a cosmologist..."
