Title: Written in Chocolate Written in Stone
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: R
Spoilers: Convergence, Sabotage, Identity Crisis, Harvest
Summary: Charlie gives Don chocolate body paint as a birthday present
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

From the moment Don unwraps his gift he thinks only one thing.

This is the gift he should have gotten Charlie for his birthday, not the other way around.

A DVD of the movie Pillow Book, a jar of Chocolate Body Paint and a paintbrush.

He smiles at Charlie, who offers him a slightly sheepish grin in return, ducking his head down to hide briefly behind a curtain of dark curls.

"Happy Birthday."

The brush tickles at first, but Don finally relaxes and lets Charlie work.

Lying on his stomach, arms wrapped around the pillow beneath his head, he closes his eyes and just concentrates on the feel of the brush, the sound of Charlie's delicate breathing and the somehow palpable energy of his brother's naked body hovering over him - even if he's not touching.

At first Don fancies he recognizes some of the Greek symbols Charlie includes as he paints his love of math all over the only thing he loves more than math itself. Then he just surrenders to the idea of being adorned by the equations that take Charlie away from him at times. Somehow this way Charlie can have his math without Don having to wait for Charlie to come back to him. He is with him in the math; he is his canvas, his chalkboard, his expression... He's his and that's written in stone, as permanent as the numbers written in chocolate are temporary.

Charlie curses softly as he makes a mistake and bends to lick the chocolate off. Don groans at the hot tongue lapping at his lower back and he silently squirms, wishing for the tongue to stay, keep moving, bathe his body with its slick affections.

"Patience," Charlie chides, as if Don hasn't already been lying still for what feels like an eternity.

"Will you at least tell me what you're writing on me?"

Don hears Charlie put the paint and brush down before his face appears before him. Charlie pushes Don subtly onto his side, not enough to ruin his handiwork, but enough for Don to be able to raise his head.

Charlie lowers his mouth to his brother's and kisses him deeply. It's hot, wet, chocolate and Charlie all in one and Don responds hungrily, his impatience finally sated with the contact he's been craving.

He licks his lips as Charlie pulls away, a hint of flavor remaining to remind him.

"Do you even have to ask?" Charlie teases.

Of course.

Charlie pushes Don back into position, picks up the brush and goes back to work, painting an equation along the length of Don's right leg from heel to hip.

"You'd better not be putting that Penfield variation on me," Don growls, in mock anger.

Charlie laughs, relaxed and unthreatened. "Well, it just so happens I don't have enough room for the entire Eppes Convergence, so I have to leave off a few things, like the Penfield variation, oh and the original flaw itself."

Don smiles and lays his head back down on the pillow. "Well, aren't you just glad I'm not a bigger guy then?"

"You're perfect," Charlie says lightly. "Oops. I made another mistake. Silly me."

"Some genius you..." Don's voice cuts off with a gasp as Charlie's tongue travels far beyond the boundaries of his supposed error.

"You were saying?" Charlie asks, pretending at innocence as Don tries to catch his breath.

"You're a genius."

Charlie laughs. "And doesn't that make you a lucky man?"

"Very lucky."

The box on his desk isn't wrapped, but the ribbon is tied into such a tight knot Charlie has to rummage through his drawer for scissors to cut it off.

There's no card, but once he opens it, he knows exactly who it's from.

He pulls out the item inside as a sensual smile snakes across his face.

"Body Art: Edible Body Paint Set. Very Blueberry, Exotic Pina Colada..." he murmurs, reading the label.

He dials his cell phone without even looking.

"Seductive Strawberry? Party Pineapple? Are you trying to tempt me to turn you into my canvas again?"

Don's husky chuckle sends a thrill through him. "Maybe. Maybe I need a place to write down my baseball stats."

The thrill turns into a shiver of anticipation. "But my birthday's not for months."

"Well, then I'll just have to paint a bow on you and make you a late present for me."

"Oh my."

"See you when I get home."

Charlie hangs up the phone and stares at the present before him.

"Who's the lucky guy now?"

First off, I confess that I've never even seen the movie Pillow Book. I'd love to, but I think you need to see a flick like that with the *right* person. *ahem* Moving on... ;-)

I confess that this fic has been stuck on my Partial list for ages. I just couldn't figure out what to do with it that wouldn't be horribly predictable and trite. I finally just said to hell with it and finished it off, not caring about the outcome. Oddly, because I didn't stress over it I guess, it came out better than expected. Not one of my better works of course, but nothing that's going to embarrass me later, that's for sure.

I know some people will be disappointed in the distinct lack of overt porn in this vignette, but I like to allow for seduction and playfulness to be their own reward as well. I enjoy their interaction in the quiet relaxation of foreplay and don't feel the need to always spell out what happens next for the readers. So read and enjoy where your mind takes you - and them - next...

Re: Confession
I love Don's slight discomfort at what he sees as a role-reversal-- and yet he really likes the chance to let Charlie pamper him!

I'll come back to this one when I need a smile.

Re: Confession
I'm glad you liked it.

I feel like instead of cookies I should be handing out Leg of Don (Don still attached naturally) with the words Thank You (in binary to make it geeky) written in chocolate paint from heel to hip.

But since Don's busy right now, I'll have to stick with cookies.

Re: Confession
Oh my.

/reluctantly hands over chocolates to muse/
/changes mind and grabs one out of the box before giving it up/
/realizes she can't eat virtual chocolate and hangs head/
/gives the chocolate to the muse who gobbles it up greedily/

And they're *French* too! /sigh/

Well, I'm sure we'll get some delicious fic out of them so I'm happy. /smiles/

"Well, then I'll just have to paint a bow on you and make you a late present for me."

"Oh my."

They're SO naughty. *eg* Just hope nobody will walk in on them!
Emma DeMarais: BlueEyeemmademarais on February 6th, 2006 12:31 am (UTC)
I could write that at some point, but I prefer to let them have their fun. ;-)

You not mai best fren: Lost in youorlisheart on February 5th, 2006 04:27 pm (UTC)
You really do have to see The Pillow Book though. It uh... quite the film. ;)

I think this works with out the real porn. I love to see the boys play and flirt with each other. Of course a sequal in which we find out what flavor don chooses wouldn't be amiss. *gg*
Emma DeMarais: BlueEyeemmademarais on February 6th, 2006 12:37 am (UTC)
Oh trust me, I'd *love* to see the film, but it seems like one where watching it alone would just get a person all frustrated. ;-)

As to a sequel, I hadn't planned one but then again, I never planned the Last Call series and see how big *that* one got! Actually the drabble Distraction has spawned its own series as well of all things, so I guess I'm almost incapable of writing something that people *don't* want to see continued! LOL!

Flavors? Check all of the above. /evil grin/ Even Don knows that experimentation is key to scientific discovery. ;-)

Eeep. Chocolate body paint. *faints*

*revives* Lovely ficlet. I love the playfulness that leads up to the fun part. *grin* Bravo!

Look! /points to smile/ You got me to smile. Wohoo. Thanks so much. Lovely story. Rec'in it and it's going into my 'fav fics' folder too. :) Great job.
Emma DeMarais: BlueEyeemmademarais on February 6th, 2006 12:46 am (UTC)
Yay! Thank you! I've been meaning to go back and thank you for past recs, but the muse keeps hijacking me to go write fic! (One must obey the muse!)

Glad it got you to smile and thanks for the kind words...

Hey, it's always nice to get comments on those things. But I'm glad you look anyway.

One must obey the muse or else it may run off with someone else and you'll be lonely (I learned that one the hard way...)

You're welcome. :) Keep the fics comin'.
Emma DeMarais: BlueEyeemmademarais on February 6th, 2006 06:17 am (UTC)
I'm still getting used to the idea of reading and commenting on other people's LJs. Give me time. /smiles/

For now, I stay busy enough posting to my own! Got to keep the muse in chocolate and the readers in fic!

Walking Liability: Diiiirty Mikeasemic on February 5th, 2006 06:52 pm (UTC)
I come back from Canada and I come back to all these smoking fics from you.

Did I ever mention that you are my hero for your kickass writing? Because you are, emma.

Mmm...chocolate covered Eppes. Now in delicious fruit flavors. Guh.

Now don't make me go on a big long thing about how much I wish I could write like you. Let's just say I'd be happy to be considered your peer. Hero is not in my job description. That's Don's job title. ;-)

Mmm...chocolate covered Eppes. Now in delicious fruit flavors.

Now that is the *perfect* comment for this fic. See? Even your comments rock!

I may have to write a sequel just to get one of the Eppes boys to say that. But would it be for Patriotic!Charlie in Seductive Strawberry and Very Blueberry or Tropical!Don in Party Pineapple and Exotic Pina Colada? /evil grin/

Oh, BTW I forgot to link to the actual product. I think most people know about Chocolate Body Paint by now, so I didn't even look that up, but this was the real fruit paint kit, FWIW.
Body Art: Edible Body Paint
(I don't want to be blamed for the silly flavor names. LOL!)

Hey, you know what sounds good? Mix and match! Chocolate and Strawberry! Oh, man... /looks around for handy boy toy and sees none/ I hate when a good idea goes to waste. More fic I guess...

Oh this is delicious and beautiful, I adore it. And this is in no way because it indulges my secret 'writing on someone's skin' kink at all. Nope, nothing to do with that.

Fantastic little fic.
