Primeval Fic: Fifty
Written for primeval100 Challenge #45 – The ARC

Title: Fifty
Pairing/Characters: Connor
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Seasons 1 and 2
Summary: Connor Temple at age fifty
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

The ARC is an empty shell, abandoned.

Connor wanders the halls, every limping footfall reverberating in the hollow space.

The pristine white walls, the stainless steel... They're showing their age, looking worn around the edges, much like he is.

He's seen three different ARC buildings in his lifetime, seen timelines where Nick died, where Stephen lived. In one world Abby kissed him. In another, she left him.

Two years ago the scientists figured out how to close the anomalies.

Now Connor has no idea what to do with his life.

And in this timeline, no one to share it with...

Confession
This is not a sequel to Thirty since this is not a series, but it's certainly kin to it. Call it a remix of my own fic. Hehehe

I had second thoughts about the age, figuring I should make it forty, but for some reason fifty is what resonated here. It's an age where his mortality is settling into his bones and loneliness is a tangible thing, a weight that he carries with him.

I ♥ my poor woobie Connor at any age...

Thanks,

Emma DeMarais

Re: Confession
This is lovely, in a heartbreaking way. Especially the various timelines he has seen and what he has been forced to leave behind.

But the worst is that the breakthrough has come too late, at least in his eyes, for him to start over. It's like finding a cure for cancer. What do you do then?

meep. Poor Connor. Another really good future-fic here, another one where the anomlaies have exacted a heavy price from Connor, and left him alone.

Dark, but atmospheric.

Bloody hell, woman, you've done it again! Packed an entre novel into a drabble. That really does take some doing. I loved it.

*meeps*

This is beautiful, in an entirely heartbreaking way.

It definitely seems to be Connor-whumping month... *g*

Oh wow this was awesome in a horribly depressing way. I love that both of your drabbles (this and Thirty) revolve around the team. They don't talk about the animals that Conner has seen, but the different way his relationships go with other people, because once he starts to grow up and the new animals start to become old and not as exciting, those relationships are the only thing that matters.

OMG awesome. Just brilliant. A novel in 100 words indeed. How did he get the limp? Who was he sharing other timelines with, other than Abby? Who figured out how to close them? What did he do for his fortieth birthday party? I love it.
