Numb3rs Fic: Chemicals Between Us
Posted to numb3rs_het

Title: Chemicals Between Us
Pairing/Characters: Don/Amita
Rating: R
Spoilers: Seasons 1-2
Summary: Charlie moves to England and leaves them behind (AU)
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

It's payback, of a sort, and they both know this as Don knocks his apartment door shut behind them.

They're hurt, left behind, but Amita won't admit it as she kicks her heels aside - the ones she could never wear with Charlie.

They're happy for him and Susan, really, and they'll say that in public when they're not ripping each other's clothes off in private.

Charlie's gone to England and now all Don and Amita have left of him is each other.

To Amita, Don is an Eppes: strong, proud, brilliant - with the same dark hair, sparkling laughing brown eyes and an intoxicating masculine scent only three men on the planet must share genetically. While Charlie's was tinged with chalk and old books, Don's is laced with cordite.

To Don, Amita is a mirror of Charlie's beautiful mind: unfathomable in more than just mathematical ways - a glimpse into the rarefied world Charlie lived in that Don could only watch from afar.

They've had their own chemistry, since that first time Charlie introduced them and left them alone in his office, but somehow the ghost of Charlie added to their equation makes the chemical compound explosive.

They didn't plan this.

But they both knew it was eventual.

They miss him.

They're lonely without him.

This way they can be lonely together.

He drags her to the bedroom, shedding clothes like snakeskin. She pushes him down on the bed, crawls up over him, lacy bra skimming over his familiar before she ever laid eyes on it chest hair. He makes her talk so she fills the room with theories he'll never understand, but knows so well.

It doesn't matter whose name she calls out when Don drives her over the edge: they both know Charlie's the invisible third person in the room.

Except he'll never know about it.

Confession
More Het! The lovely sororcula, who owns numb3rs_het, has been a Het muse lately for me so here's one inspired by her!

FWIW, Don/Amita is possibly my *least* favorite of the reasonably good sized pairings. But because I adore Sor I wrote it for her anyway.

That and I'm a pairings whore and it wasn't checked off on my list. Hehehe

Fic title from the Bush song of the same name. (Great song, dumb video, thus no YouTube link.)

Thanks,

Emma DeMarais

Re: Confession
So much love.

(I didn't mention it before, but I also really liked this line: Amita won't admit it as she kicks her heels aside - the ones she could never wear with Charlie. Hee.)

Re: Confession
Iconnage! ♥

Yeah, I figured there had to be some benefits to Don vs. Charlie. Hehehe

I'm so glad you liked it.

Just don't expect me to commit Don/Amita again any time soon. ;-)

is it warm in here?

I'm sitting in front of a drafty window, under a spinning ceiling fan, and with a cold soda in one hand...and your fic here still makes me sweat.

tis good that they can be alone together - they're smoking, that's for sure.

Mm. Hot.

(Beta suggestion, should that be inevitable, not eventual?)

That was a brillant description, dear Emma, you made their feeling of beeing left behind, their desparation visible.

Thank you very much for sharing, my Dear!

It doesn't matter whose name she calls out when Don drives her over the edge: they both know Charlie's the invisible third person in the room.

That sentence was amazing... Just like the rest of the fic! *g*

Great job!

Oh, wow, this is as painful as it is gorgeous.

(And how gorgeous a set of images it is.)
