Numb3rs Fic: On the Rocks
Written for numb3rs100 Challenge #194 – Ethics

Title: On the Rocks
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Spree, Two Daughters, Scan Man
Summary: Don confesses his sins and wishes for absolution
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

"I tried to do what was right, but it kept coming out wrong. I tried to save Megan, but I ended up killing Crystal Hoyle. I tried to follow the rules, but the rules didn't work. I almost lost the brother I love and I know now that I'd kill for. I know what I feel is unethical, a sin. But I can't change - I tried. I can't stop wanting what I shouldn't want. No matter what I do, I'm always wrong."

There was no rabbi here.

Don's confessional was a glass of scotch.

Absolution waited in his gun.

Confession
The title is both a reference to a way to serve scotch and to Don's screwed up life.

How does an ethical man reconcile being a killer, trying to be religious and lusting after his own brother? I think the answer might be, he doesn't.

Thanks,

Emma DeMarais

Don, NO!

I am reminded of Dira's discussions of Missing Persons and how at some points her hardest challenge was figuring out how to keep Don from killing himself.

And, this makes me extra glad of his spiritual arc this season.

Also, DON! NO!

/echoes/ Don NO!

This Darkest!Don is scary, most definitely.

I'm glad of the arc too. Don needed something and I'm pleased that the writers are letting him seek out a better solution than alcohol and adrenaline induced sex.

In the words of Rage Against the Machine:

"There be no shelter here / The frontline is everywhere"

Thanks for reading, as always.

I like this. It's a nice look at Don's feelings.

Thanks! I like crawling inside the head of a man who crawls inside the head of criminals for a living.

Hi! And welcome to my LJ! /puts out a platter of cookies/

I'm with you on the "No Don No"! He's interesting when he's dark, but this is a bit too dark for comfort.

Thanks for coming to read and comment! Come back anytime! I've got a *huge* back catalog filled with all sorts of fun stuff. :-)
