dollhouseflash Challenge #004 – Secret
Title: Visibility
Pairing/Characters: Alpha, Mellie
Rating: PG
Spoilers: Ghost, The Target, Stage Fright, Gray Hour, True Believer
Summary: Alpha makes a delivery invisible to those around him
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ
He blends. He does that. He's designed to fit in - perfectly.
Today his role is FBI Agent. The ID was easy enough to fake. The security? Child's play. The only challenge, if one could consider it that, was procuring just the right slightly ill fitting, slightly better than just off the rack, but not expensive, drab gray government suit and completely humorless tie so that he looks like every other drone in the building.
His mission is simple yet critical: deliver the package.
Paul Ballard isn't an idiot, but he's working too slowly. He has to be fed new information else there's a risk the higher ups will reassign him, take him off the Dollhouse case.
That cannot be allowed.
For a while it seemed like Paul would be persistent yet ineffectual. But seeing as how Adelle sent Victor after him? Clearly they consider him a threat to be reckoned with. The fact that he'd gotten shot, almost killed, and still come back to the case? That earned him a level of respect.
The photograph had been a tease. The disc in his hand that he so subtly works into the mail cart when the distracted young man isn't paying attention? That's an all access pass into a past the Dollhouse wants kept secret, buried, forgotten. No turning back now. He either trusts Paul to follow Caroline's trail or he doesn't.
The elevator door opens and he finds himself face to face with a familiar face: a woman holding a glass container of food.
"Oops, sorry!" Mellie says, trying to get out of his way so he can enter the elevator as she exits it. She pauses, looking back into the elevator, a quizzical expression on her face as she stares at him. "Do I know you?"
He presses the Lobby button then the door close button.
"No, ma'am. I don't think so."
