David rapped on the Assistant Director's door as Colby fidgeted nervously beside him.

"Come in!"

David opened the door to find Don in a flurry of activity, pulling files, typing on his computer, jotting down notes.

"Um, we were hoping you might have a minute," David began.

Don didn't even look up. "That's about all I have so talk fast."

David and Colby exchanged distressed looks, but David forged on.

"I just, I mean we just wanted to let you know…" he floundered. "You know how we used to joke about Colby and I being married to the job?" He looked to Colby for support.

"David proposed," Colby blurted out. "We're getting married."

"That's great guys," Don said off-hand, still engaged with his tasks. "Be sure to see Human Resources. They'll have a bunch of paperwork for you to fill out."

David and Colby blinked at him and at each other.

"Um. Okay."

They turned to leave and Don burst out laughing.

"You guys! Oh, man! You should have seen your faces!" He pulled them each into a big bear hug in turn. "Congratulations!"

"Thanks," Colby mumbled, looking sheepish.

"About damn time," Don told them, clapping David on the shoulder. "We were beginning to wonder if you were going to step up and make an honest man of Colby."

"You all knew?" David gaped.

Don huffed out a laugh. "This is the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Kind of the worst place to try to hide, surrounded by trained observers." He headed back behind his desk, pulling out a piece of paper and referring to it. "Damn, Charlie won the pool! I should have known his math would work."

"You had a pool?" Colby asked, aghast. "You were betting on us?"

David smiled in understanding. "No, they were betting for us."

Ah, true. They recently changed to dress blues so that was why I got confused; Colby'd be in Army green at his wedding. *needs to write something along those lines herself*

*grins* How about an Eppes girl? Although I have a feeling ONE Granger-Eppes kid will be a major handful, never mind two...

Hmm... Well this is future fic so would Colby wear his uniform from before the change or would he wear the new one with his old medals and ranking on it? Huh. Good question.

And you want Tyler Granger to marry one of Don or Charlie's kids? /is confuzzled/

Colby got out of the Army before the changes were made, so he would wear green.

*grins* I'm fine with whoever you want him to marry, but I have to admit, the prospect of curly-haired, green-eyed kids is a pretty enticing one. Not to mention their families' reactions...

Hee!

Well, I'm a big fan of Magister's Wavering Lights Universe so mixing the kids is a fun idea.

For now, I'll focus on wedding, but I'll keep the rest of the N3 clan in mind for the future. :-)

P.S. What would David wear? You know this is so much easier in the Harborverse. I know exactly what they wear for their beach wedding. /sigh/

*grins* I'm just having fun imagining a daughter of Don Eppes with her Dad's playboy (playgirl?) ways... Poor Ty won't know what hit him.

David would wear a tux, I think, since he's non-military. Colby could tease him about it being white... (Funny thing is that if Colby were Navy instead of Army, *he* would be the one at the altar in white...)

My brain just did odd things at the though of David in a white tux.

*grins* Well, you do have a Charlie/David 'verse going... /anvil-sized hint

My deadline for that is the tenth. No way I'm getting the relationship that far by then.

Notice that I said 'verse, not fic. You could always write a sequel... *eg*

And yes, I got your email about the additions. *scurries off to read*

OMG A girl with Don's charm? Yeah, deadly. /grins/

I have this picture of David in an all white suit (perhaps Alimi wore one to an event or something) so he could do that instead of a traditional tux or just a really nice dressy suit.
