144. Gambling

Don stared down the seasoned gambler across the poker table, an FBI agent poker face and a big gun making him look pretty intimidating.

Everyone else had folded, the stakes too rich for their blood. Don just puffed on his cigar.

"You're bluffing," the man huffed.

"Am I?" Don tossed back.

Robin draped herself over Don's shoulders.

"Come on," she purred. "Beat this guy so we can go back to our room."

Don pushed all his chips forward.

"I'm all in."

The man looked at Robin looking at Don's cards and threw his own cards down in disgust.

"Take it."

203. Poker

The tournament wasn't the same without Larry, but Charlie was determined to maintain his best friend's honor and his position as the champion in the Cal Sci Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament.

Probabilities danced in his head as he played, the cards becoming just factors in a fresh equation each time a new card was revealed or a new hand was dealt.

Applied mathematics meant he used his math in the real world, but he had to admit that using it for recreational purposes, even if it was for Larry, was still a rush when he laid down each winning hand.

206. Draw

"Three cards."

Colby stared at his partner across the surveillance van.

"Dude, you always ask for three cards. Every time."

"I can't draw four unless I have a face card and you keep dealing me crap hands," David complained.

"I have no idea if you have face cards or not! You could lie and I'd never know."

"I'd know," David told him. "Three cards."

Colby dealt the cards, dealing himself two.

"I'm just saying if you were less predictable you'd probably win more."

"If I won," David huffed, "you'd be too pissy to spend eight hours in a van with."

046. Fold

Larry was greeted at the front door by Alan who ushered him back to where the Eppes men were playing poker with the rest of Don's team.

"Larry!" Don waved him over. "Pull up a chair and join us! We've got a good game going here."

Larry put up a placating hand to turn him down. "While I appreciate the invitation to join in your frivolity I must respectfully decline." He sighed. "Cards and I have had a parting of the ways. I learned the hard way the only way for me to win is to fold before I begin."

With apologies to T who helped me come up with bunnies for this most resistant Rewind (and to the slash chatters who helped too) because despite all your help I ended up writing something totally different. /headdesk/ Still, the assistance was much appreciated. /shares cookies/

Very special thanks to beta t_vo0810 for her assistance with this fic.

I'd love it if you expanded the first one into some sort of dramatic sting operation. It just feels like there's so much more serounding it.
