White Collar Fic: From the Collection of
Written for whitecollar100 Challenge #021 – Loan

Title: From the Collection of
Pairing/Characters: Neal, Peter
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Pilot
Summary: Neal can't help his instincts but they can help Peter
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

As Peter spoke to the still shaken museum director about the theft of the Degas sculpture that was to be the centerpiece of the new Impressionism exhibit scheduled to open the following week, Neal wandered about, looking at all the paintings hung up in the off limits gallery.

Many of them had rectangular bronze plaques beneath their name plates, stating the name of the collection they were on loan from. A number of them were marked "From the Collection of Martin and Suzanne Hansen".

Two Monets, a Pissarro, a Sisley and an early Cezanne caught his eye and despite how wary the guard on duty was, he allowed Neal to get as close a look as he wanted.

"Hope you're not shopping for your next gig," Peter warned cagily as he walked over to where Neal was examining the Pissarro. He flashed his notebook at Neal. "Looks pretty open and shut to me: new guard, only been with them a couple of months and now he's gone missing. Should be pretty easy to wrap this one up."

"Good," Neal said, a twinkle in his eye. "Because we've got an even juicier case right here. This Hansen Collection? They're all forgeries."

Ha! Look at what I said on last week's drabble!

A quickie this time, not well thought out, but I've been busy yet wanted to make sure I got a WC100 drabble in before they changed to the next week's prompt. I'll try harder next time.

Not only did I not try harder this time, I missed my window to get this posted before the prompt changed for the week! This even though I wrote this fic on the 26th! /headdesk/

Can it be Winter Break yet? I need to be out of school and done with exams. It's a mental health thing. ;-)

Re: Confession
:-) It's okay. I know you're busy so I take any drabble for the com as the gift it is. And for what it's worth I thought this was a lot of fun.

Re: Confession
I appreciate that, but I'm still kicking myself knowing I had time and I had the drabble ready and I just spaced out on the fact that it was a) Sunday and b) you were home to post the next challenge on time. /headdesk/

Re: Confession
Well in all fairness 3pm NZ time has moved from 8pm Pacific time to 6pm what with daylight savings and all. I missed getting my own drabbles out on time and it's my com. :-)

hehe. I don't know why but this feels like the beginning of at least a 4 - 6 part drabbles series to me.

I miss Neal. Is it January yet?

Very nice. Could pretty much be the opening segment of an episode.

I loved Neal noticing the fakes.
