188. Snow

She'd been cold and then she wasn't. Now she was cold again.

She had never felt so tired, her eyes never so heavy, wanting to stay shut.

But something told her to try to stay awake, it was important.

She'd been scared, by something, she couldn't remember. Too cold... Too easy to sleep...

Then the voices had come. With them came the sharp snow cold air, but soothing words telling her she was going to be okay, she was safe.

One of the men's voices had a bit of a drawl and she thought it funny that angels had accents.

097. Accident

The ambulance siren was loud, far louder than on TV, and she tried to say it hurt her ears.

Strong hands lifted her up then laid her down flat. A flash of two faces looking down at her: her angels. One dark and one fair, with reddish hair.

She clung to their voices, the reassurance they gave, in soft strong tones that spoke of confidence and experience.

As they brought her away she could see a little of where she'd been.

Her car, her lovely new white car, was wrapped around a tree and all but invisible covered in snow.

229. Break

The hospital lights were glaring bright and she wanted to shade her eyes against them.

Only her arms wouldn't really work right and now that she was warmer everything hurt, especially her legs.

People in white talked at her, doctors and nurses she assumed, but it was mostly a blur.

There was just a cacophony of noise around her and blissful silence waiting in her head if she'd just close her eyes.

Someone shook her, tried to get her attention.

She caught the words 'bone' and 'set' and 'hurt'.

She cried out with the pain, but her angels weren't there.

173. Bone

"How is she?"

"Two bones broken in the right leg, concussion, hypothermia... But she should fully recover."

"That's great. We were worried when we found her... I mean, we have no idea how long she'd been there..."

In and out, she heard snatches of voices, sometimes her angels and sometimes not.

Her eyes fluttered open and she could see through the glass walls of the room. Outside two men stood gazing back at her: one dark, one fair.

The red-haired man put a hand up on her wall, lingering for a moment there, before turning away.

"Goodbye, angels," she whispered.

Oh, I hope one of them heard her say that. I'm so glad they could rescue her, and I love how immersively you've conveyed her perspective!

:-) This was wonderful with Don and Billy as angels. I like how you did it from an OCs POV.
