"It's after midnight." Elizabeth poked Peter as he finished up his crossword puzzle, already in his pajamas and reclining on his side of the bed. "Come on. Open just a couple."

"I thought we weren't going to open any of my birthday presents until we got to the Hamptons tomorrow for our long weekend away," Peter countered.

"Hamptons, schmamptons," Elizabeth said with a dismissive wave of her hand. "I want to see what you got for your birthday!"

"Just a couple then," Peter agreed with a patient sigh.

Elizabeth gave him a quick buss on the cheek and bounded off the bed, followed by Satchmo, eagerly wagging his tail in excitement. She returned laden down with a heavy box filled with wrapped gifts.

"Honey!" Peter got up and took the box from her. "You should have told me it was heavy. I'd have gotten it for you."

"It's fine," she said, eyes on the box. "Come on! Open one!" She settled on the bed to watch and Satchmo jumped up beside her, panting as she scritched behind his ears. "Start with that one - it's from June."

"This one's pretty heavy!" He pulled out the largest box, which Elizabeth had indicated, and started to carefully remove the taped pieces until she glared at him then just tore the wrapping paper off.

"Ooh! Mikasa china! I love their designs!"

"Espresso service for twelve," Peter read off the box. He chuckled to himself. "I guess that means we're tiny cups people now."

"Next present up..." Elizabeth pulled out a package wrapped in ivory rice paper with a subtle embossed design. "Neal says it's from Mozzie even though his name's not on it."

"Sounds about right." Peter opened it to find a bag of coffee beans. "Ethiopian Sidamo! Be still my little heart."

"I'm thinking all twelve cups will have your name on them if we brew that at home," Elizabeth teased.

"Oh, no," Peter joshed. "I'd for sure let you have two of them."

"Next up! Diana and Clinton!" She handed over two more packages from the box that looked suspiciously the same size as the last one.

Peter opened them both up quickly to find they also were coffee beans.

"Ethiopian Sidamo, Ethiopian Sidamo!"

"Well, you can't say your team doesn't know you," Elizabeth said, stifling a giggle. "Okay, Neal's up and it's much bigger."

Peter opened up Neal's box and recognized the bag of coffee beans, triple the normal size, inside.

"This is the Italian Roast June drinks! Oh, this is enough to last a month!"

"And then some!" Elizabeth marveled. "What's in the envelope next to it?"

Peter opened it up and smiled. "It's a gourmet coffee of the month club. Guess which coffee it features the first month?"

"You're kidding!"

"Ethiopian Sidamo!" They both fell to the bed laughing. "What are you going to do with me? I'll be so overcaffeinated I'll never sleep again!"

"Mmm... I'll just have to stay up with you," Elizabeth purred, kissing him.

Elizabeth plucked out the last item and moved the empty box from the bed to the floor.

"One present left for tonight and we'll open the rest later."

The last gift was a small cube, simply wrapped.

"Who's this one from?" Peter asked.

"Satchmo, maybe?" Elizabeth joshed.

"Well, he does have good taste," Peter retorted playfully. "He did pick you to take him home."

"Or it could just be the first of a number of presents from your lovely wife," she admitted.

"Lucky me," Peter said, pausing long enough to kiss her cheek. He opened up the wrapping paper to find a plain white box which he opened to find a coffee mug. "Oh, is this..."

Elizabeth gave him a sweet smile. "I felt bad that yours is tied up in evidence so I got you another one."

Peter pulled out the mug and held it up to the light. "World's Best FBI Agent," he read off the side.

"My hero," Elizabeth said, pulling him in for a kiss. "Happy birthday, hon."

"Thanks, hon."

"Oh! I forgot!" Elizabeth pulled away and headed for the closet. "Satchmo did get you something! It just didn't get wrapped."

"Good dog," he said, petting the dog's head affectionately. "Saving me from more sticky tape."

Elizabeth popped a little shopping bag in front of Peter. "Here you go!"

Peter pulled a now familiar sized bag of coffee beans out of it then read the label, laughing out loud.

"100 percent Kona from Maui - Decaf!"

I confess I'd *never* publish a drabble that wasn't spot on 100/200/300 at numb3rs100, but I happily feel no such compulsion for whitecollar100.

Who am I kidding? You'll never see anything other than 100s and 50s from me at WC100. Hehehe It was hard enough allowing 250 instead of 300 in the first place, no way I'm suddenly going to publish something that's like 187. LOL

BTW, this is the Mikasa I had in mind. I figure it doesn't come in a twelve pack that I know of, but June can certainly afford it.

Now, who wants to bet that as soon as Peter and Elizabeth get to June's place in the Hamptons (borrowing it for their weekend away) there's a birthday cake waiting there for them from The Great Escape The Greatest Cake? ;-)

All of these were so cute. Peter is going to be awake for the next two years with all that coffee and I have to say I love Satchmo's gift.
