Dover twice. Hartford for more time than Billy expected. Plus that supposed sighting in Providence that he'd blown off to focus on Connecticut. So far Charlie was batting a thousand.

But then Neal wasn't in custody yet. For as smart as Charlie was he could only narrow down the places to look. He couldn't anticipate exactly where Neal would be. He was a pro at avoiding capture, but then Billy wasn't exactly a green rookie himself.

"Talk to me, Professor," he drawled over the cell phone headset as he drove. "It's got to mean something to your calculations that he went to Dover twice."

"It does." Billy could hear the noise of papers being pushed around on the other end of the line. "It means he'll go back there again."

"You're kidding? He's been there twice. He knows it's stupid to go a third time."

"Exactly. He's certain we won't look for him there a third time which makes it the perfect place to go."

Billy shook his head, grinning. "I can't fault that logic."

"Well, math is logic."

"And numbers are everything," Billy joked. "I got the speech the first time I was in LA, thanks. Do you still do that thing with the daisy?"

"Every chance I get," Charlie said proudly. "Math is nature's language!"

"Yeah, again... Got it the first time," Billy interrupted. "Though I think it would be funny when we catch Caffrey to tell him we found him using the math in a flower."

"He's an artist, right? He'll know the Golden Ratio, the Fibonacci sequence."

"What he won't know is that we've brought in a mathematician to help catch him."

Charlie chuckled to himself.

"I guess that makes me the anomaly."

"I guess," Billy smirked. "As long as you spell it with one O."

Oh My God. How many ways do I love this drabble. I love the Charlie/Billy banter (flirting). I love Charlie talking even a little about Art!math. And now once Neal is eventually (I'm assuming) caught I want Charlie to fly out and meet this guy because having Neal and Charlie in the same room can not be a bad thing.

(oh, and the anomaly spelled with an O bit is perfect)

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay! The boys get to flirt on the road. :)

I admit, I hope Charlie gives Billy more than the flower speech when he sees him again.

...and then there's Billy/Neal to think of...and of course Neal will need to thank Dr. Eppes for saving the Burkes and when he sees how pretty our dear professor is...Oh my. /fans self/ I think I need all of that.
