Numb3rs Fic: The Pitter Patter of Little Feet
Written for numb3rs100 Challenge #327 – Blind

Title: The Pitter Patter of Little Feet
Pairing/Characters: Alan, Don/Robin, Charlie/Amita, OCs
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Season 6
Summary: Alan loves the sound of grandchildren in the Craftsman
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

Alan can always tell the twins bursting through the door of the Craftsman at a distance. They're easy: four equally sized and equally enthusiastic feet on the hardwood floors with Allie always fighting her brother Jake to get there first. A soft clip following them means Robin's brought them to visit; a heavier step means Don. It used to be hard to tell Robin's and Amita's delicate steps apart from the other room, but since she became a mother Amita's chosen much more practical footwear than Robin has to wear in the courtroom. Charlie's athletic shoes always squeak more than Don's heavy boots, but Alan never has to guess when his youngest son comes home. There's a hearty 'Hey, Pop!' followed by a big hug before he winds up with a lapful of toddler. Allie and Jake are getting too big to sit in grandpa's lap, but wee Meg still fits in his arms perfectly.

Alan had prayed to live long enough to see his sons finally give him grandchildren. As his fingertips ghost over Meg's upturned face - they grow up so fast - he's grateful to at least be alive even if he'll never see their beautiful faces.

AW! I should have expected that, but you still got me.

Lovely use of the sounds. It's surprisingly engrossing to follow a fic around by my ears.

Eeep! Poor Alan, being blind, but at least he gets time with his grandbabies. *huggles him*

Oh, excellent! So sweet. A little sad, but there are worse things than losing your sight.
