White Collar Fic: Twist and Crawl
Written for whitecollar100 Challenge #069 - Crawl

Title: Twist and Crawl
Pairing/Characters: Sara
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 200
Spoilers: Unfinished Business, On Guard, As You Were, On the Fence
Summary: Secrets make a thief of sleep
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

Midnight comes and goes and takes one and two in the morning with it. Then three. And four.

Even if Sara is back in her own home, sleep doesn't return as easily as her belongings.

She'd gone to bed at a reasonable hour, read a little before turning out the light, nothing unusual.

Except what she'd seen on the laptop at Neal's place: an overflowing vault of stolen art.

Twist, turn... Images of paintings not seen for half a lifetime rise up behind her closed eyes.

Flip, fidget... Who knew gilt items could shine in a grainy security video?

The window open makes her feel too warm, the window closed, too hot.

She eventually wakes after a night of such fitful sleep what covers she has left are spun into a tornado shape and strewn across the foot of her bed.

She crawls to the bathroom and stares in the mirror.

The face that looks back at her isn't as guiltless as it was the day before.

She looks away, goes to make coffee and ignores the flashing light on her home answering machine.

She knows who it is and if she can't face herself, she certainly can't face Neal.

Very interesting, I like it. And I really didn't give much thought to Sara's immediate reactions following the discovery. Nicely done.

Nice with angst. I can really feel her discomfort.
