Written for whitecollar100 Challenge #078 - Soul

Title: One to Two to Three
Pairing/Characters: Peter/Elizabeth/Neal
Rating: PG13
Word Count: 100
Spoilers: Pilot
Summary: Peter marvels that he's found not one but two people to love
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

Peter realized when he fell for Elizabeth that he'd met his soul mate.

One became two.

Then he met Neal.

Try as hard as he could, he couldn't help but be drawn to him - not to his con man charisma, but to the true and good heart inside. The more time they spent together the more Neal trusted him and revealed his real self. That he was attractive no one could argue, but this went deeper.

The shock was when Elizabeth confessed she'd been developing feelings for Neal as well.

Still, Peter kept his distance and his composure, watching Neal and Elizabeth flirt while he couldn't risk it. The Bureau would throw Neal back in prison in a heartbeat if they thought Peter was being inappropriate with him.

And then Neal finished his sentence with time off for his consulting efforts. The anklet came off and it hit them both that after being on a tight tether to Peter for almost four years Neal was now free to go anywhere in the world he wanted to.

He didn't. He stayed.

He showed up on their doorstep a couple of weeks after his release, soaking wet and an emotional wreck. Through broken words he admitted he couldn't leave, but he couldn't have what he wanted either: them.

It was Elizabeth who dried his tears, took away his wet clothes and tucked him into their bed.

Then they tucked themselves in around Neal and showed him he could have what they all wanted.

Peter wasn't sure how many people went from one to two to three in a relationship.

As he watched Elizabeth and Neal sleep, each curled on either side of him, he felt a rush of love flood him.

Somehow he'd wound up with two soul mates.

Two became three.

It always amazes me how much you can fit into so few words. You still truly are the master of the drabble. I can picture Neal standing at the door looking like a drowned rat and just a mess.
Wonderful work and as always thank you for supporting the com.
