"Alan, it's beautiful!"

Margaret stood on the balcony of their room at the Hotel Del Coronado, looking out over the ocean.

Alan came up behind his wife and wrapped his arms around her slender waist, kissing her neck.

"I know we're not newlyweds anymore, but that doesn't mean this can't be like a honeymoon for us."

Margaret turned in his arms and caressed her husband's face with her graceful hands.

"It's only our one year anniversary, Alan. I think we can hold on to the title of newlyweds a little while longer."

"Okay, how about a few decades?" he teased.

"Boys! Stay close!"

Margaret watched as Donnie started running around the hotel lobby with little Charlie close behind.

Alan walked up to the front desk and was greeted by the clerk.

"Welcome to the Hotel Del Coronado."

"Thank you. We have reservations: Mr. And Mrs. Alan Eppes and family."

"Very well, sir."

"Alan, I'm going to take the boys outside before they break something."

"Okay. I can take care of this. I'll see you out on the beach once I get our bags taken care of."

"Love you," Margaret said, giving him a quick kiss. "Donnie! Charlie! Let's go play!"

"Kids! Watch the lamp!"

"Welcome to the Hotel Del Coronado."

"Thanks, give me just a moment... Kids, if you can hold on for just a few minutes longer, I know it was a long car ride, but I promise we can go swimming in the pool or the ocean – your choice, okay?"

"Okay," the reply chimed back in unison.

"I know how hard it is. I came here as a kid too, so I remember how fun it can be. So just a few more minutes."

"Do you have reservations, sir?"

"Yes, we have reservations: Dr. Charles Eppes and family."

Yes, the Hotel Del Coronado is a real hotel and it is in a place where the Eppes might have gone for a nice long weekend type vacation. The Del's pretty pricey so I can't see them going often in the early years, but Charlie certainly could afford it easily.

Hee! I love how you included three snippets that show the progress over time. *grin* Bravo!

Thanks! I'm just chuffed that we can now do up to 300 word drabbles at the comm! Of course, I'm one of the people making the rules, but still... /grins/

I love the idea of a family vacation spot for them. It just seems so right, as family is so important. Thanks for this!

Well, it's obvious they have strong ties to their house as a home, so it kind of made sense they'd have strong ties to other places that held a lot of memories for them. The Del's exceptional, so it's quite a memorable place on its own.

YEA! I love the incorporation of time, and especially that Charlie brings his kids to the hotel.

Thanks! I tried to make Charlie's family status vague so no one felt constrained enough that they couldn't fill in the blanks as to who was there with him and his kids. :-)

Glad you liked it.
