"Wow, North Carolina's..." Charlie searched for a word to describe the cacophony of people thronging in the streets, many of them hooting and hollering in celebration. "Crowded?"

"It's only this bad when it comes to sports, especially basketball." Kerry helped Charlie negotiate his way through the crowds of much older and taller co-eds. "Chapel Hill and Duke have a huge rivalry so any game brings everyone out. And when I say everyone, I mean everyone from both schools and their friends and their second cousins once removed..."

"And you want me to go to grad school down here?" Charlie huffed out a laugh as he got shoved about by a passing gaggle of guys in jerseys. "Nice recruitment technique, getting me stepped on by jocks. And here I thought we'd be having a quiet evening of academic conversation or at the very least a simple keg party."

"Hey, you picked the weekend to come visit," Kerry teased as they got swept up in the flow of humanity crossing the street. "And you know how much I like going to grad school here."

"Look! It's a tourist!" A drunken frat boy grabbed Charlie, his massive hand gathering up almost the entire word Princeton on his sweatshirt. "Tell me Jersey Boy! Chapel Hill or Duke?"

"Duke..." Charlie replied, only then registering Kerry urgently whispering "UNC, UNC, UNC..." quietly behind him. The bully drew a meaty arm back to punch. "...are doofuses! Duke are doofuses!"

The raised arm fell. "Duke are doofuses..." The guy nodded in approval. "I like it." He rejoined his friends, leading them in a chorus of their new insult. "Duke are doofuses! Duke are doofuses!"

"Come on..." Kerry tugged on his arm to get them away fast. "Before they sober up and figure out we've mucked with their grammar."
