Colby watched through the two-way mirror as Don interrogated Martin Sanders, the CFO responsible for looting a multimillion dollar corporation.

"Virginia must have forged her husband's signature on the documents. I was just obeying his orders, or so I thought."

"Do you expect anyone to believe that as a CFO you never questioned the transfer of company assets to offshore accounts?" Don leaned across the table to stare Martin down. "We're charging you with embezzlement. What's left is figuring out if you're going down for murder as well."

Martin fidgeted, unnerved by Don's fierce gaze.

"If I testify that Virginia killed Oscar can I cut a deal on the embezzlement charge?"

"You're saying you know for a fact that Virginia did it, acting alone?"

"Yes. She told me she did."

Colby turned down the speaker in the observation room and looked at the woman standing beside him.

Virginia stared through the glass, her pretty face hardening into a grimace.

"That rat bastard. He didn't even last ten minutes before he served you up my head on a platter."

"Are you willing to testify against him?"

"I can do one better," Virginia smirked. "I have the surveillance tape from our backyard showing him in the act. It's in a safe deposit box."

Colby flipped a switch on the intercom to speak into Don's earpiece. "We've got what we need to charge him."

Don nodded his acknowledgement before he pulled his handcuffs out.

"Martin Sanders, you are under arrest for the murder of Oscar Harrington."

Virginia turned to Colby, lips curling into a disturbing smile. "Just promise me you'll go for the death penalty."

"That's cold," he said, shaking his head.

"He betrayed me," she replied saucily, her tone exposing the venom inside her. "No one betrays me."

I confess I don't have time for my normal rambling confession.

You guys will have to read up on Mata Hari to get why I named the fic this and I will also let people figure out the head on a platter reference. /grins/

As a bonus, I will say that the rat bastard phrase comes from a strong woman in the pilot episode of the TV show I plan on adding to my list of fic fandoms. In fact, I have two fic ideas and the first one is outlined in detail already.

You should be returned to your regularly scheduled Confession posts by next fic. ;-)

Sorry for not commenting before now. But I just wanted to say that I am really enjoying the series you've got going. Especially with the woman's name Virginia. I like a strong woman who knows how to cover her butt. And she has my name. My given name is Virginia. :)

Thanks for continuing to share your incredible talent with us!

Thank you Kayra! (Or should I say Virginia?) :-)

I appreciate you commenting and letting me know you like this series. I have been a bit uncertain about it. It's a bit out of the norm so I wasn't sure how people would view it.

I wanted her to be a kind of old fashioned femme fatale with enough of a modern bent to not be a cliche. Surprisingly that is pretty hard to write! I do kind of like her though. She's rather deliciously evil...

Thanks for sharing your thoughts and for your kind praise.
