Numb3rs Fic: Crickets
Posted to numb3rs_slash

Title: Crickets
Pairing/Characters: Don/Charlie
Rating: PG13
Spoilers: Vector
Summary: Don and Charlie relax in the backyard (Vector Post-Ep)
Notes/Warnings: Read the disclaimer on my LJ

The evening was a warm embrace, welcome after the rush and stress of the threat of epidemic, and the scent of night blooming jasmine wafted over Don and Charlie as they sat side by side in the backyard in peaceful companionship.

"I can't believe you got Dad to take up bowling." Don chuckled.

Charlie smiled and ducked his head down. "It got him to leave, so where's the bad?"

"Yeah..." Don drained the last of his scotch and put the glass on the table. When he sat back up, he laid his hand on Charlie's shoulder affectionately. "It's nice to have some alone time with you. It's been a while." Charlie leaned his head toward Don's hand and Don responded by sliding it up to cup his face. He leaned into the warmth of his brother's hand, closing his eyes briefly at the sensation. "Come here..." Don slipped his hand behind his neck and tugged him closer as he leaned in to meet him halfway.

Charlie's lips were soft and warm against his and they kissed leisurely - tasting, exploring and relishing the unhurried intimacy.

"You staying?" Charlie asked, his lips hovering over Don's for a moment, brushing ever so lightly as they shared each other's air.

"Yeah..." Don replied, threading his fingers into Charlie's irresistible curls. "Figured I had a good excuse to crash here." He gestured to the scotch glass on the table.

"Works for me." Charlie brought their mouths together again and welcomed Don's probing tongue as their kisses shifted from gentle to more passionate as their desire for each other woke inside them.

"Do you want to go inside?" Don asked, letting his hand roam over Charlie's back.

"In a little bit," Charlie replied. He settled himself in beside Don, resting his head on his shoulder. "I'm kind of enjoying being able to sit outside with you like this."

"Yeah..." Don wrapped his arm around Charlie's shoulder and pulled him in closer as he pressed a kiss into his curls. "I like it too."

The chirp of crickets encircled them as they fell into silence, the stress of the day falling away as the promise of the night ahead filled their thoughts - a moment of peace for them to remember in the days to come.

For orlisheart who requested 'Don/Charlie - together on the patio on a cool summer's night' from me.

I made it a bit warmer and a post-ep for Vector, which I missed snagging at eppescest's summer ficathon.

Hope you like it, my dear!

Aw, lovely and sweet!

Always with the perfect icon!

It was that very moment that begat this fic. /sigh/

Stop me before I wax too nostalgic over Season 1...

Glad you liked it!

And you know, I totally have a crazy mind, as I read the title originally as "cricket" singular and was intrigued by the idea of someone writing Numb3rs fic on that subject. I have this whole argument about spin in cricket versus spin in baseball, as well as stats in the two, that rears its ugly head everytime I watch "Hardball" *g*
Emma DeMarais: BlueEyeemmademarais on June 26th, 2007 08:12 am (UTC)
OMG! You are not going to believe me, but I thought of that when I was titling the fic! I actually thought 'someone like Andi or maybe even Leda will see this as Cricket and think I mean the sport' LOL!

One of my goals before I die is to understand Cricket. I managed to learn Craps which was on my list, but not Physics which still is and I think Cricket's somewhere in between. /grins/

That doesn't surprise me *g* I have a similar desire to understand baseball. I still think of it in terms of rounders, which we played at school. I may have to do a post in my LJ about baseball vs cricket *g*

Baseball's not so bad if you're patient. But then again, I played softball as a girl, so all the positions are known to me. I had to have football explained to me when I was young and I still can't keep all the positions straight.

Some of the stuff on my list is from childhood - stuff I can't remember and it bothers me. I don't remember exactly how to play four square, hopscotch or how to make those paper folding things.

I used to be okay at cat's cradle, but it's been a while. I'll have to find some string and if I can't manage it it will have to go back on the list...

That was wonderful. Soft, loving, gentle. Thank's for sharing.

People seem to think I only write NC17 porn, but I do enjoy writing lots of other stuff, including proving that all cestfic isn't about sex. ;-)

Aw, that was really sweet.
Especially the ending: "a moment of peace for them to remember in the days to come"

If that were a series, I'd be scared now, foreshadowing of something bad and all...
Hehe well, what can I say- I just think you are evil like that :)
Emma DeMarais: BlueEyeemmademarais on June 26th, 2007 08:32 am (UTC)
I *am* evil like that! Hehehe

And I think Rampage qualifies as something bad that happens to the brothers after Vector. That's the upside of writing Season 1 fic so far after the fact. I *do* know the future! /grins/

You're quite prolific with the tender, peaceful moments lately, and they're delicious. *loves.*

That kind of kisses, where it's a slow flood of sensation? Yeah, yummy.

I'm sorry I'm not so articulate tonight--we moved our modem and router, and I *just* got connected in preparation for work tomorrow. *yawns*

I'm off to dream of slow kisses and cuddly Eppeses.

And *ninjas*! Don't forget the ninjas! Hee!

Actually I have been scarily prolific as of late. I think I cleared four fic in one day recently. Man... It's like old times. ;-)

Slow kisses... /sigh/ I miss those...

I have a five minute first kiss that I am dying to use on someone. It's been in my head for years, but I haven't had the right moment for it.

One day it's going to happen, I promise myself that...

Hope the geeky stuff works out well.

Thanks hon!
